Pro League: the contenders of the 4th round

As we head into Round 4 of the JPL from August 16-18, 2024, there are some interesting storylines to watch out for. Here’s our take on who will be most likely to win each match.

Union Sint-Gillis vs. Sporting Charleroi

Union SG might be sitting in 8th place, but they’re strong at home. They should have enough to get past a Charleroi side that's struggling for consistency.

K Beerschot VA vs. KRC Genk

Most likely to win: KRC Genk

Genk’s firepower should be too much for Beerschot. Genk is determined to stay in the title race, and this game should keep them in the mix.

St. Truidense VV vs. FCV Dender EH

Most likely to win: St. Truidense

Dender has had a surprising start and currently sits 2nd, but St. Truiden’s experience should see them through in this encounter.

KV Mechelen vs. RSC Anderlecht

Most likely to win: Anderlecht

Anderlecht looks sharp and should have the edge over Mechelen, who have been inconsistent so far.

Club Brugge vs. Antwerp FC

Most likely to win: Club Brugge

Despite a poor start and lingering near the bottom, Club Brugge can’t be underestimated, especially at home. Expect them to bounce back against Antwerp.

Oud-Heverlee Leuven vs. Cercle Brugge

On 18/08 at 4 pm
Most likely to win: Cercle Brugge

Cercle Brugge’s organization and tactical discipline should be enough to see off Leuven.

KV Kortrijk vs. Standard de Liège

On 18/08 at 6.30 pm
Most likely to win: Standard Luik

Standard has shown flashes of brilliance this season, and they should be able to outclass Kortrijk in this matchup.

KAA Gent vs. KVC Westerlo

On 18/08 at 7.15 pm
Most likely to win: KAA Gent

Despite their current 11th place, Gent’s quality should prevail over Westerlo, who surprisingly top the table but may find it tough to maintain that position.
