Excitement in European football: the Champions League is back for another matchday! The first round of games in this new competition format Europe’s most prestigious club football tournament showed some interesting results. Quite a few strong contenders need to step it up a notch if they want to make the cut! Here’s what we think might happen…
01/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: Borussia Dortmund
Dortmund did what it had to do last time around. It’s a safe bet to assume that it will beat Celtic too, though the final result may be more modest.
01/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: Bayer Leverkusen
Last season’s Bundesliga champion Leverkusen has shown no signs of slowing down. While far from an easy feat, a win against AC Milan is in the cards.
01/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: Arsenal
Premier League side Arsenal kicked off its campaign with a stale draw: in front of their home crowd against PSG, the Gunners will set the record straight.
01/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: PSV Eindhoven
With PSV and Sporting, two ambitious outsiders go head to head in a crucial game for both. PSV should win here, if just barely.
02/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: RB Leipzig
What a fascinating encounter this is! It’s very plausible that the Roten Bullen keep the 3 points in Leipzig, at the cost of Juventus.
02/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: Real Madrid
French Ligue 1 side Lille hosts title holder and record Champions League winner Real Madrid. Despite home advantage, it’ll be the La Liga team that’ll win.
02/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: Bayern Munich
The result here won’t be that unprecedented as 2 weeks ago, but Aston Villa will suffer defeat against the merciless Munich machine, too.
02/10 9 p.m.
Most likely to win: Club Brugge
Both teams are about level in this encounter. It’s one of the few obvious chances for the Belgians from Bruges to win 3 points: count on them to do so.
