United States Grand Prix 2024: Verstappen or Norris?

The Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas is getting ready for action with the US GP on 20 October. With Max Verstappen failing to impress recently, and Lando Norris coming to the Formula 1 forefront, this edition could prove decisive! The contenders: Verstappen, Norris, or an outsider?

Most likely to win: Lando Norris

Last time around, Max Verstappen managed to beat Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz Jr. Any of these three could end up being the winner, but Norris has a slight advantage, now that Verstappen is struggling to hold on to the lead that he’d built earlier this season.

Most likely to win: McLaren

With still a fair chance to win the championship if he gets all the points he can, expect Norris to fight tooth and nail here. Coming in hot as an outsider is Charles Leclerc, who started from pole last year but couldn’t capitalize on it. He should be dead set on doing better this time around.

The circuit: spectacle inspired by the best tracks

Austin’s Circuit of the Americas was finished in 2012, making it one of the younger tracks in Formula 1. Since then, its 5.513 km have featured in all seasons except 2020. With nods to legendary sections from other tracks (Silverstone, Suzuka), the Austin track has a familiarity to it, while also acknowledging its “bigger is better” US identity with parts like the uphill run to the very spacious Turn 1.
