Australian Open: history awaits in the first Grand Slam of 2025!

08 January 2025

Melbourne is ready to host the best tennis players in the world for the first Grand Slam event of the year: from 12 till 26 January, it’s time for the Australian Open! Who has the biggest chance to become the first Grand Slam winner of the new year? We’ll be shining our light on the ATP side of the matter, where excitement abounds… Don’t miss out on this!

Jannik Sinner is set to defend his 2024 title in Melbourne, despite having a sword of Damocles in the form of a doping suspension of up to 2 years hovering over his head. If he avoids WADA’s persistent scrutiny, he’ll be in it to win it, for sure. He’s got all the credentials after a spectacular 2024 in which he became only the 2nd player ever to finish the year without straight-set defeat. We can fully expect Sinner to keep up his relentless pace in 2025. First up: the Australian Open!

Most likely to win: Jannik Sinner

Novak Djokovic, meanwhile, has squashed question after rumor regarding his retirement. Indeed, he’s still going strong, but at the same time, he’s not getting any younger either. An 11th AusOpen victory would make him the undisputed Grand Slam winner, with 25 titles.

All the same, it could go to tennis prodigy Carlos Alcaraz, in the end. At 21, he could already complete his Career Grand Slam (winning all Grand Slams at least once), making him the youngest player to do so. It would seem that he has a date with history all of his own here!
