The Champions League is finally back. The League Phase already gave us some big clashes early in the tournament last year, and this year is no different. On Day 2 of the opening week we’ll see Bayern Munich – Chelsea, Liverpool – Atletico Madrid and much more. Here are our predictions.
Most likely to win: Olympiakos Pireus
As an appetizer, we get a Greek-Cypriot duel. Pafos are newcomers in the CL and will have a tough challenge against former Conference League winners Olympiakos. The Greeks are tipped as favorites.
Most likely to win: Slavia Prague
The Czech champions against the Norwegian champions – who are also making their CL debut – promises fireworks. Thanks to home advantage, Slavia are favorites, but don’t underestimate the Norwegians.
Most likely to win: Inter Milan
Ajax return to the Champions League stage and kick off against last year’s runner-up: Inter Milan. Naturally, the Amsterdammers are the underdogs, but the ArenA is always a tricky place.

Most likely to win: Bayern München
In Munich, Vincent Kompany welcomes the newly crowned world champion. Whatever that title may mean, the Germans are favorites against an inconsistent Chelsea.
Most likely to win: Liverpool
At Anfield, Mohamed Salah and co. host Diego Simeone’s troops. After last year’s early exit, Liverpool will want to make a statement from the start. Strengthened in several positions over the summer and off to a perfect domestic start, the Reds are clear favorites against Atletico.
Most likely to win: Paris Saint-Germain
The evening closes with last year’s winners: Paris Saint-Germain. The Parisians face Atalanta with Charles De Ketelaere. There’s no doubt who the favorites are here: PSG.
