Pro League matchday 21: a Cercle vs KVM derby to kick off 2025!

The winter break is over, so it’s back to the pitch for our JPL teams on 10-12 January! There are some epic battles ahead, so make sure that you make the most of this action! Which team starts the 2025 portion of the current season with the best results? We’re looking forward the most to Cercle Brugge vs KV Mechelen, a derby between our sponsored teams!

Standard vs KV Kortrijk

Most likely to win: Standard

Standard hasn’t enjoyed its best form before the winter break, so it’s time to step it up a notch. A victory against KV Kortrijk, still in relegation danger, seems the most plausible here.

Westerlo vs STVV

Most likely to win: Westerlo

Westerlo and STVV have similar JPL profiles, but it’s Westerlo that’s ahead for the moment. We expect Westerlo to win, which will only exacerbate STVV relegation worries.

KRC Genk vs OH Leuven

Most likely to win: KRC Genk

KRC Genk wrapped up 2024 in first place, and is still a solid title candidate. Against OH Leuven, the Genkies should be able to keep the 1-points lead that they currently have.

Charleroi vs Union

Most likely to win: Union

Charleroi is one of 3 teams that have 27 points. The Carolo’s will fight tooth and nail for a victory against Union, but the Brussels team will not falter: victory for Union!

Beerschot vs Antwerp

Most likely to win: Antwerp

Spectacle guaranteed in this classic city derby! Beerschot’s home advantage may go a long way, but in the end, it’ll be the Great Old that leaves “het Kiel” with the 3 points.

Dender vs KAA Gent

Most likely to win: KAA Gent

Out of its 20 games so far, Dender managed to squeeze 27 points. While that’s not bad for a team that was promoted only last season, we predict the more experienced KAA Gent to win.

Anderlecht vs Club Brugge

Most likely to win: Club Brugge

One of the hottest games of the season! The eternal rivals meet while they are in third and second place, respectively. It could be a close call, but Club Brugge should win this round.

Cercle Brugge vs KV Mechelen

Hard to say for us which of “our” teams will win this one. One option when predicting the outcome of a game between two equally strong sides, is home advantage. Cercle wins!
