Europa League matchday 5 and Conference League matchday 4: home advantage for Cercle?

On 27 and 28 November, we’re once more treated to awesome European club football. That’s right, the Europa League and Conference League are back! We will be looking at the crucial events of matchday 5 of the Europa League and matchday 4 of the Conference League – with, of course, a special focus on our sponsored team Cercle Brugge!

Cercle Brugge vs Hearts

Golden Palace sponsored Conference League hopeful Cercle Brugge has home advantage, and should be the stronger team anyway, against Scottish side Hearts. Cercle for the win!

Anderlecht vs Porto

Anderlecht faces what may be its toughest opponent yet with Porto. Despite a worthy show in front of its home crowd, Anderlecht will suffer a slight Europa League defeat.

AZ Alkmaar vs Galatasaray

This Europa League encounter could really go either way, as both teams are about equal in strength. In cases such as this, you should consider home advantage as the deciding factor.

Tottenham vs AS Roma

Most likely to win: Tottenham

Tottenham is a serious contender for the Europa League title, but the EPL team meets a formidable opponent with AS Roma. Spurs should come out on top here, though.

Real Sociedad vs Ajax Amsterdam

Sometimes you can predict a game by the respective leagues of the two sides. La Liga in Spain trumps the Eredivisie in the Netherlands: Real Sociedad should beat Ajax Amsterdam.

OGC Nice vs Rangers

Most likely to win: OGC Nice

OGC Nice is long overdue a victory in this Europa League campaign. Against the modest Rangers from Scotland, the French team should come out on top fairly unscathed.

Twente vs Union

Most likely to win: Twente

Eredivisie team Twente has a tough opponent here: Union Saint-Gilloise from our very own JPL. Union hasn’t been doing too great though, so expect Twente to win here.

Lugano vs KAA Gent

Most likely to win: KAA Gent

Switzerland’s Lugano has won twice and lost once so far. Belgian JPL side KAA Gent has done the same. The Buffalo’s will come out on top in a direct duel for the top 8.
